Nigerians produce the most wonderful and nutritious milk and our families are big consumers. Goat milk is extremely nutritious and very digestible. Individuals who cannot drink cow's milk can often drink goat's milk without digestive difficulties. While many people have an idea that goat's milk tastes "goaty"...we can assure you that our milk is absolutely delicious with no hint of "goatiness". We maintain strict standards for milk processing, goat nutrition and housing.
We are constantly impressed with the performance of these little dairy goats..not only are they beautiful, easy to handle and totally entertaining...they can put the milk in the pail...and milk that is high in butterfat which makes for great cheese! Our milk, and therefore our cheese, experiences subtle changes throughout the seasons because it is based on the natural environment of our farm. Different weeds, grasses, wildflowers all make up the daily diet of our goats and all are seasonal. We think that adds to the quality and uniqueness of our cheeses. Our milk is truly a product of the land.
We know the quality of the milk on the table begins with the quality of nutrition we provide to the goats. Our herd is managed organically....with their utmost health and well being foremost in everything we do. In the summer they graze on pasture filled with grasses and wildflowers. They are also provided with a top quality mix of oats and other grains, supplemented with black oil sunflower seeds, beet pulp and alfalfa pellets. In addition, they have clean loose minerals, sea kelp and baking soda available to them at all times along with fresh clear water from our deep artesian well. We have forest readily available for them to browse, we also provide them with fresh cut willow in the summer along with other garden, tree and brush trimmings, vegetables from the garden and free weeds which they love!!!
In the winter, when snow covers the pasture, they have the most beautiful, second cut, Local mixed grass hay available. In the winter, we are able to provide them with occasional fresh cut greens and always a Christimas tree or two which never lasts very long.....and every morning and afternoon they get their "hot tea", fresh warm water with a little Homemade, apple cider vinegar. We are constantly impressed with the performance of these little dairy goats..not only are they beautiful, easy to handle and totally entertaining...they can put the milk in the pail...and milk that is high in butterfat which makes for great cheese! Our milk, and therefore our cheese, experiences subtle changes throughout the seasons because it is based on the natural environment of our farm. Different weeds, grasses, wildflowers all make up the daily diet of our goats and all are seasonal. We think that adds to the quality and uniqueness of our cheeses. Our milk is truly a product of the land.
We know the quality of the milk on the table begins with the quality of nutrition we provide to the goats. Our herd is managed organically....with their utmost health and well being foremost in everything we do. In the summer they graze on pasture filled with grasses and wildflowers. They are also provided with a top quality mix of oats and other grains, supplemented with black oil sunflower seeds, beet pulp and alfalfa pellets. In addition, they have clean loose minerals, sea kelp and baking soda available to them at all times along with fresh clear water from our deep artesian well. We have forest readily available for them to browse, we also provide them with fresh cut willow in the summer along with other garden, tree and brush trimmings, vegetables from the garden and free weeds which they love!!!
In the winter, when snow covers the pasture, they have the most beautiful, second cut, Local mixed grass hay available. In the winter, we are able to provide them with occasional fresh cut greens and always a Christimas tree or two which never lasts very long.....and every morning and afternoon they get their "hot tea", fresh warm water with a little Homemade, apple cider vinegar. This is the height of our kidding season and the focus will be on assisting with various herd management activities focused on the care and feeding of our new kids from birthing through their first weeks of life, adult goat care, milking and cheese making.
The second internship will begin June 1st and end around September 30th. During this time, we will be focused on milking, cheese making and sales, spring clipping/grooming, pasture rotation, and assisting with additional various herd management duties.
Both internships include helping customers in the farm store, packaging products, assisting with marketing of products, cleaning, repairs and maintenance, garden preparation, weeding and harvesting.

We’re located just outside of Bangor Me…a wonderful community with great people, lots going on and absolutely beautiful surroundings.
We provide accommodations in a small travel trailer on the property with access to indoor bathroom and shower. You are also welcome to camp on farm property if you prefer. Terms of Sale
Reservations are taken on planned breedings that appear on our Kidding Schedule in the order in which they are received. Once the kids have arrived you will be notified if the kid you requested is or is not available. At that time, we will email or mail photos and/or arrange a visit to the farm to view the kid. Once you have seen the kid and confirmed your intent to purchase we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the sales price to hold the kid until pick up time. All goats must be paid for in full before they leave Willow Moon Farm.
We reserve the right to retain any and all kids from any breeding.
Most kids are registered with AGS (American Goat Society) at the time of purchase. Wethers are not registered. All kids are tattooed, disbudded, castrated (if applicable), and have received their first vaccinations. All of our kids are inspected by a veterinarian and we guarantee that all goats are healthy and free from any visible defects at the time they leave the farm. Should health problems or physical defects become apparent at a later date, we cannot allow the goat to be returned to our farm for bio-security reasons. However, if a veterinarian has determined that a problem existed at birth, or was caused by mis-management at our farm, we will make every effort to provide satisfaction to the buyer.
We cannot accept responsibility for a goat that does not meet your expectations at maturity. There are no guarantees of potential. Each of us accepts that risk with every goat, or other animal, we purchase.
While we prefer that goats are picked up at the farm, on occasion we will ship out of Burlington, Vermont. The buyer is responsible for all associated shipping costs including crate, veterinary tests/certificates, air fare, etc. We will not ship a kid less than 8 weeks old and will not ship when weather presents threats due to time of year, temperature or other conditions that might be hazardous to the kid's health. Generally, kids will not be shipped between May 15th and September 15th due to warmer temperatures and the associated transport risks.
With purchases of several goats, we may be able to deliver (within a certain number of miles) or help arrange transportation. Call us to discuss.

Buck kids from a first freshener will automatically be wethered (neutered) and available as pets for $250. Wethers make wonderful pets. They don't have the hormonal cycles of a doe or the pungent smell of a buck. All of our kids are disbudded between the ages of 4-8 days. If you would like a horned goat, I am happy to not disbud them for you- however, since there is a limited market for horned nigerians, the kids must be paid for in full by the time they are five days old, otherwise, I will disbud them.
