Honey Brook Farm Sales Policies
Honey Brook Farm Sales Policies
General:
- We reserve the right to retain any kid from any breeding at any time.
- All animals will leave the farm with a signed sales contract (you can view it ahead of time by request) and a copy of this sales policy.
- We will NOT sell just ONE goat if you don’t already have goats. Goats are herd animals and NEED to be with other goats.
- Bottle babies need a similar age, 100% bottle baby buddy. If you have dam raised kids only, the dams won't let the new kid near them. The new kid will be so desperate for companionship, that they will keep going back and the dam will step up their aggression until they hurt the new kid. Please make sure you have another 100% bottle baby for them! I usually have some available. Wether companions are only $200 and you could easily just sell the companion after your doe kid is well established into the herd. It's so much better for the kids transition and wellbeing, so much less stress. Regular price for wethers is $250. For those buying JUST wethers, I do require minimum purchase of two.
- We only want the best for our animals, we will work with you to ensure that it is the best fit for you and the animal.
- All our goats are clean tested for:
- CAE – Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis
- CL – Caseous Lymphadenitis
- Johnes
- Brucellosis
- TB
- We guarantee all animals are in good health before they leave the property. This is indicated in the sales contract that will be signed acknowledging the health of the animal.
- Traveling can be stressful on any animal; we will not be held liable for any injury or sickness after the animal leaves the property.
- We have the test results for all animals that can be viewed at any time. We will not provide a copy to take home as these are for our animals in our own herd, and only on our property.
- We will require to see proof of current biosecurity tests for: CAE; CL and Johnes.
- ALL goats will be disbudded if they are not polled – NO EXCEPTIONS
- If you are new to goats – we HIGHLY recommend getting established with a local vet that works with goats.
- If you are new to goats – we HIGHLY recommend getting established with a local vet that works with goats.
- There is no cost to reserve a kid
- Once we contact you regarding your reservation, you will have 24 hours to respond before we move on to the next person.
- If you decide to purchase the kid(s)/goat we will require a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. The goat is not considered reserved until the deposit is received within that 24-hour period. Unfortunately we have had too many people say they wanted a goat and weeks or months go by and they change their mind and don't let us know and we lost the opportunity to sell to someone else.
- Deposits are non-refundable - Unless the kid(s)/goat becomes ill or requires additional medical treatment before the arranged pickup date, we may be able to give you the option to transfer the deposit to another goat if available.
- We will refund your deposit if we feel it won’t be a good fit or decide to retain the goat.
- Preference is given to performance homes which is the only time we may skip over someone in line for a reservation.
- Prices will be finalized for the kids after we are able to evaluate the doe once she kids. This will be communicated when we reach out regarding your reservation. Once we finalize a price, that will not change.
- All animals MUST be paid for IN FULL before they leave the property.
- Kid(s) will be registered or given the registration paperwork for ADGA and/or AGS before leaving the farm.
- All applicable registration and transfer fees are the buyer's responsibility.
- If you have an ADGA account I will transfer/register online but the original paperwork will be included with the goat when you pick up and you are responsible to send it in to ADGA/AGS.
- If you Lose your paperwork I, as the owner of record, have to order the replacements and ADGA takes up a lot of time to deal with so I will expect to be fairly compensated for my time to do so.
Transportation and Pick-up:
- When a deposit has been paid, we will discuss the time frame in which the goat(s) will be ready to leave. For kid(s) we will contact you as it gets within the 2-week time frame of them being weaned (8-12 weeks) and agree on a date for the kid(s)/goat to be picked up. If its a bottle baby we will contact you once your kid is well established on a bottle. If the kid does not take to the bottle well and we feel it's in the kids best interest to stay until weaning we will notify you once we have made this determination.
- It is the full 100% responsibility of the buyer to arrange transportation for the animal(s).
- The buyer will be responsible for any and all expenses including farm call fees, any specific additional testing required by your state, CVI (certified veterinary inspection exam) etc. for transport.
