Farm Notes:
- We reserve the right to retain any kid from any breeding at any time.
- All animals will leave the farm with a signed sales contract (you can view it ahead of time by request) and a copy of this sales policy.
- We will NOT sell just ONE goat if you don’t already have goats. Goats are herd animals and NEED to be with other goats.
- Bottle babies need a similar age, 100% bottle baby as a companion. If you have dam-raised only kids, the dams won't let the new kid near them. The new kid may be so desperate for companionship, that they will keep going back and the dam may step up their aggression and they could potentially hurt the new kid. Please make sure you have another 100% bottle baby for them! I usually have some available. Wether companions are $150- $200 and you could easily just sell the companion after your doe kid is well established in the herd. It's so much better for the kid's transition and well-being, and much less stress.
- We only want the best for our animals, we will work with you to ensure that it is the best fit for you and the animal.
- All unregistered goats leaving our farm will go with a tattoo ID. This does not mean they are registered.
- Wethers can be registered but they cannot always be shown.
- Wethers cannot breed They are infertile.
- All kids will receive colostrum for up to three days from either the dam or a bottle.
- At your request we will always offer you an opportunity (and encourage you or your agent) to fully inspect the animal/s you purchase and take this opportunity to carefully examine your prospective goat verify that you are receiving him/her in a good healthy condition. it is important because we want you to be happy with your new herd member. We want to be clear and make sure that you understand that once the animal/s leaves HBF property because then HBF is no longer responsible for the animal/s.
- All our goats are clean tested for CAE – Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis, CL – Caseous Lymphadenitis, and Johnes
- We guarantee all animals are in good health before they leave the property. You are welcome to get a health check at your expense by a vet of your choice before the goat leaves our farm.
- Traveling can be stressful on any animal; we will not be held liable for any injury or sickness after the animal leaves the property. Goats often experience stress when they travel to a new place and unfamiliar surroundings when they are weaned, or any number of unforeseen variables could occur after they leave our care.
- We may require to see proof of current biosecurity tests for CAE; CL and Johnes.
- ALL goats will be disbudded if they are not polled – NO EXCEPTIONS
- If you are new to goats – we HIGHLY recommend getting established with a local vet who works with goats before purchasing a new goat from our farm or anywhere else.
- Please let us know if you would like to reserve any of the kids from our breeding schedule. Reservations are free to make. To place a reservation just message/email or call us.
- Unfulfilled Reservations are automatically transferred to the following year.
- Once we contact you regarding your reservation, you will have 24 hours to respond before we move on to the next person.
- If you decide to purchase the kid(s)/goat we will require a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. The goat is not considered reserved until the deposit is received within that 24-hour period. Unfortunately, we have had too many people say they wanted a goat, and weeks or months go by and they change their mind and don't let us know and we lose the opportunity to sell the goat to someone else.
- All Deposits are non-refundable. A deposit of 50% of the purchase price will hold the animal until pick-up date. Deposits are non-refundable unless the animal is injured or dies.
- If the kid/goat becomes ill or requires additional medical treatment before the arranged pickup date we may have to postpone travel/pick-up dates or we may be able to give you the option to transfer the deposit to another goat if one of the same value/quality is available.
- All payments are considered deposits in good faith that you will purchase the goat we are retaining in our inventory for you. If partial payment or payments have been made and you fail to pay the balance after we have retained ownership of the goat for you then all of your previous payments are considered a deposit and are non-refundable and will be applied to the expense of boarding the goat that could have been sold at an earlier time to another buyer and provided income to the farm. The market fluctuates greatly especially seasonally. A goat that would have sold quickly in the spring may not sell during the fall or winter in Maine so the loss can be detrimental to the farm's livelihood which we depend on to care for and feed the overall herd. It is for this reason that these funds will be applied to these expenses and to reintegrate the goat back into our herd if necessary.
- Preference may be given to performance herds and because of this we Occasionally may skip over a reservation.
- Prices will be finalized for the kids after we evaluate the dam post-kidding. This will be communicated when we reach out regarding your reservation. Once we finalize a price, that price will not change.
- All animals MUST be paid for IN FULL before they leave the property. On rare occasions, we may make an exception but no registrations or bill of sales will be transferred.
- We reserve the right to adjust pricing on any goat that has no pending deposit.
- We reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone for any reason at any point in the sales process.
- If we offer you a payment plan on a group of goats and apply any special pricing the entire package price must be paid in full before any discounts apply, any registrations, bill of sales, or any other paperwork will be transferred into the buyer's name

If you do not receive this within 48 hours please contact ADGA and notify me via text or phone call and I will check my email.
- If you have an AGS membership or do not have an ADGA account a paper application will be given to you to send to ADGA and/or AGS for registration of the goat before leaving the farm unless payment is not complete. - Once the goat leaves the farm All applicable registration fees, transfer fees, and any other registry fees are the buyer's responsibility.
- If you have an ADGA account I will transfer registration online. A photo or copy of the original paper application will be included with the goat when you pick it up (or when payments are completed) and you are responsible for sending it to ADGA/AGS if the online registration has not been done for some reason.
- If you Lose your paperwork I, as the owner of record, have to order the replacements and ADGA takes up a lot of time to deal with. I will expect to be fairly compensated for my time to do so. I will charge accordingly for my time and all fees will be the buyer's responsibility.
- ****If ADGA ND is not functioning properly then it's possible that only a paper application or pedigree will be sent home with the goat.
- ***PLEASE DO NOT LOSE OR MISPLACE YOUR GOAT'S REGISTRATION PAPERWORK!!! IT CAN BE A DIFFICULT AND TIME-CONSUMING PROCESS TO REPLACE REGISTRATION PAPERS. I will charge for my time spent to replace your lost paperwork.
- When a deposit has been paid, we will discuss the time frame in which the goat(s) will be ready to leave. If it's a bottle baby your kid/s must be well established on a bottle. If the kid does not take to the bottle well and we feel it's in the kid's best interest to stay until weaning we will notify you once we have made that determination.
- It is the full 100% responsibility of the buyer to arrange transportation for the animal(s).
- If a goat is going to be ground shipped through a transporter, all fees associated with this including CVI's, shipping costs, crates, vet fees, testing, etc. are the responsibility of the purchaser.
- The buyer will be responsible for any and all expenses including farm call fees, any specific additional testing required by your state, CVI (certified veterinary inspection ), etc. for transport.
- If you live outside the State of Maine you are legally required to have a CVI for the goat to leave the state so you will be responsible for any additional veterinary expenses. I will within handle all of the logistics of the process if you choose my veterinarian or a veterinarian who will make a farm call to HBF. You must disclose your state of residency if you do not live in Maine.

- ***If you miss your pick-up date and/or payment (or some other deadline) and we cannot reach you, or you discontinue communication with us and we have not heard anything from you for more than 48 hours we will consider all of your payments to be deposits and they will be forfeited and the animal will be re-listed as available on our sale page and sold.
- ALL Buckling(s) MUST be picked up between 8-9 weeks of age.
